The name for Sirupate kukri comes from the leaf of grass; “Siru”. So the name is formed as: Siru(name of grass) + Pat(leaf) = Sirupate. The shape of this kukri blade is very much like the leaf of Siru grass which is slimmer, skinny and sharper. Hence it is called Sirupate kukri. Unlike other kukri knives; this kukri/kukri has straight, slimmer, lighter and sharper blade. This kukri is the newer version of the Sirupate kukri.
The blade is made from highly graded carbon steel and the handle is made from rosewood designed in Eagle Head shape which makes it easy to use and carry and beautiful to look at. The sheath is made from refined water buffalo leather. The blade of this kukri is maide Rust Free so that the blade does not get rusted. Other shiny blades have to be cleaned properly after using because they may get rusted if we don’t clean it properly after using or if we don’t take well care of the blade but this kind of Rust Free blade; the blade does not get rusted even if we don’t clean it after using. So the Rust Free blades have low risk of getting rusted. There is a hole at the bottom end of the handle so one can use a cord to tie up blade in his hand in used and not to lose the knife.
This Sirupate kukri/kukri comes two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a sharpener called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade or for striking spark from flint and a little utility knife known as “karda” used for skinning, cutting paper and opening envelope. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt serves as conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, this preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for catching and neutralizing and enemy blade.
