Dhankuta is a village located in Eastern part of Nepal and this type of Khukuri is made only in this village. Hence it is called “Dhankute Khukuri”. This DhanKute khukuri is typical working knife; however, slimmer and lighter blade with beautifully carved scabbard and handle makes it more as a decorative tool. The blade of this knife is made by specialized artist of khukuri and the scabbard is made of wooden. Scabbard is beautifully carved and then decorated with white metal by highly skilled artist of Dhankuta. This khukuri is a perfect combination of sharpness and elegance. This Khukuri comes with two pockets on the back of the scabbard wich hold a sharpener called Chalmak  for sharpening the blade and a little utility knife known as karda used for skinning, cutting paer and opening later. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuri serves as conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, this preventing it from soiling the hilt.
